Silk Painting in Buxy France

I escaped to a fun three day silk painting workshop with Nadja at her Chateau studio near BUXY France.

We learned methods for painting silk with dyes, using resist and freeform painting. Here is a little overview of our process. The silk is prepared on a stretcher, painted, steamed and hand washed.

While at the Chateau we enjoyed wonderful scenery & meals, tasted local wines, and had the company of Lexi the Newfoundland.

In the time between our silk painting activities and eating we visited the charming town of BUXY ….

On the second day as our silks were steaming we took a road trip into Beaune and visited the Hotel – Dieu Des Hospices Civils De Beaune… the first hospital of its kind established 1443 by Nicolas Rolin and his wife Guigone de Salins. Great town.

It was fun time learning the techniques of silk painting, enjoying the hospitality of the Chateau and exploring the area.
