An ‘Encore Excursion’ – UW Digital Publishing Certificate
The UW Digital Publishing Certificate is a 3 semester course with the focus of website, ebook and social media publishing. The final project is a business plan related to the publishing project. My focus throughout the class was to apply the digital publishing skills learned to my interest in promoting the arts, cultural and heritage venues and activities. My final project was to conceptualize a 501(c)3 arts council as follows.
Sky Valley Arts Council will serve as the umbrella organization for the Sky Valley arts community. We will develop close relationships with the towns, communities, educators, for-profit and non-profit organizations to keep creative aspirations and enterprises alive and viable . We hope to grow the opportunity to engage with the arts year around in the valley.
MISSION & FOCUS
Sky Valley Arts Council partners with individual artists and arts organizations to cultivate art events and education in the Sky Valley. Our mission is to make the Sky Valley stronger by providing cultural events and education. We also serve as an innovative partner in promoting the lifestyle in the Sky Valley.

By providing and supporting quality programs in diverse art forms
By supporting arts education in our schools and community
By actively advocating for the arts at the region, state and federal level

By conducting outreach, collaborating for efficiencies and providing technical and administrative support to the community groups who enrich the cultural fabric of the Sky Valley
PROMOTE TOURISM & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:
By aligning with regional efforts to promote and develop the economic and cultural opportunities in our community
