The 3 main strokes of scrollwork are a hook, an S and a curl. As my ‘botanical year’ grows into another year, I have identified scrollwork as an art built from ‘plants’. So scrolling, flourishing, leaf lettering and more will be added to my studio routine.
I have started with a basic lesson with the letter.queen
Now I need to do my research and find books with examples. Mostly Dover reprints and Ornamental design archives and I have actually found many reference books and pages in my personal library … plenty to start a daily practice with Hook s Curl.
