Green Heron

[of green] “The beholder has neither the wish nor the power to imagine a state beyond it.”

Goethe in Theory of Colours

The color subject this week, the Green Heron I would suggest, carries the pleasant, distinctly grateful green that Goethe described. I have not seen a green heron in nature but the bird is described in Stokes Field Guide as “small all-dark; compact shape; blue- green back; reddish brown neck and chest; bright yellow to orange legs” , “crouches on shore and waits for prey” . Here are my watercolor renditions from class this past week.

We are curious about COLOR here, each week we dive into a color, and embellish the topic with some watercolor sketches.
