Walking through the garden on a pollinator survey I noticed that PURPLE is the bloom color where most bees were foraging – making Purple the subject this week!
Typically, you will want a warm and a cool tone for a watercolor sketch. Try mixing a range of purples using the combos shown here. Purple can get murky quickly so make sure you are using warm and cool tones to achieve a saturated color.
Bright purples come from using a COOL red. A dull purple is achieved using a WARM red
Of course, there is always the premixed purple – look for PV. A visit to Jane Blundellart and search purple/violet will show swatches and excellent commentary
The most likely colors to attract bees are purple, violet and blue!
