Paris Log

A collection of scenes from a small area in Paris November 2024.

Marche Montorgeuil

Gastronomy and Pâtissiers

Around every corner and up every narrow street … it makes Paris, PARIS!

We made a visit to Pere LaChaise via metro

The Pere-Lachaise cemetery has two centuries of history with many well know residents. On this November day the golden leaves from the trees were a nice peaceful accent.

When leaving we talked briefly with this woman, a Funeral officiant who was going to the chapel for a service… look at that ruff! and she was carrying a trowel and wooden box!

Something for the curious to look up …. In French, Tronc means a collection box or poor box. Judy, who was on the walk and speaks/understands French quite well explained that tronc is also a word used by service workers when they pool tips! This structure was at the main entrance.

Did I mention it snowed one day!

Our very nice Hotel Bachaumont… where I was able to sketch the fabulous dessert profiteroles… before they disappeared!
