We arrived in Tokyo and went directly to Shibuya Crossing known as the ‘times square’ of Tokyo. We were engulfed in the energy, visited the statue of Hachiko [a famous Akita dog, look him up!] and went up to a Sky Lobby to get a good look.

Next morning we visited the Imperial Palace.

These Imperial Palace grounds sit on the historic site of Edo Castle. There is a park, moats, buildings and stone walls from various periods. The grounds are near Tokyo station.

We then went to the Yanaka neighborhood which survived the war. This area was a mix of older buildings and some definitely older electrical poles, plus there were many small shops, a French cannele bakery!, and a temple with a cemetary.

It was an interesting day exploring Tokyo… here are a few other clips.

Monday included about 9 miles of walking and 3 subway trips.
