Japan 5

The food edition. Starting with the Kyoto street market food stalls. One of the first stalls we saw offered Nukazuke- Japanese fermented vegetables that are made using rice bran and yeast! Jeanette said her mom used to make these in a pickling crock.

The Japanese have many seasonings, pickled and fermented foods that we typically do not see on our table. We used our phone to translate the packaging.

We enjoyed fresh rice crackers, delicious!

A Kyoto ‘piroshi’

And for a little adventure we/Hunter tried the Sparrow challenge… it was a lot of chewy bones.

Some other scenes from the market.

Of course there was a shrine at the market.

We took an evening walk to a nearby Pagoda. Wooden, built in the 17c.

Dinner was a delicious sushi meal.

It was another great day of Adventures.
